Holopono's captain, Mike McCulloch, has a U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Master's license. Mike and his wife, Leilani, are the owners and operators of Holopono. Knowledgeable big game sportsmen are familiar with CABO's reputation for building the finest engineered production sportfishing boat in the world. Ko Olina Fishing Trip

The best thing about sport fishing in Ko Olina is that it is located on the leeward coast of Oahu. The best fishing on this island starts right off the the head buoy of the entrance to the marina where the 40 fathom ledge often holds Ono or wahoo as they called on the mainland. There is nothing like starting off a day of fishing with a fish in the box during the first half hour. It happens!

Once we get offshore, trolling the 1000 fathom line you won't believe the beautiful views looking back at the island. You will see all sorts of sea life such as flying fish, porpoise, even humpback whales in the winter months. On any given day of fishing we will have the opportunity to catch Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Mahi mahi, and Aku or Skipjack Tuna. We can target any of the listed species by the size and color of the lures that we run. But fish are individuals with eating habits which are impossible to predict. So, even if we targeting small Aku with 5 inch jigs, a 200 lb Blue Marlin may come along and inhale it thinking the lure is a small Aku. After all, elephants eat peanuts, too! The lesson here, is that there are no fences in the ocean. Find the bait and the larger predators will be patrolling the area looking for something to eat. Aku just happens to be the favorite food of Blue and Striped Marlin.
